About Me
I am a thirty-something, stay at home, homeschooling mom who hails from the burbs of Chicago. I have seven kids – ages 13, 11, 8, 6, 3, one being born in April 2010, and one little angel in heaven (+5/09). I’m a simple cook and housekeeper these days, since I never seem to be able to complete a task, but hope springs eternal! I always wanted to be a mom – but went to college and obtained a degree in Social Work. BMAK (Before marriage and kids), I worked as a Triage Counselor at the State Mental Health Center. Now I “put out fires” at home. I prayed for a very long time to meet a Catholic guy who was on fire for souls. We met at a Poor Clare Monastery and got married soon after. Our spirituality is inspired by great people such as Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. John the Baptist, St. Clare of Assisi, St Edith Stein….(basically the patron saints of our children), and all the martyrs who died for the love of God. We ran a Catholic Worker house and farm (goats, chickens, sheep, cats & dogs) from 1997-2000, when my vocation pulled me away from it. We’ve been in “Chi-town” ever since, as this is where the family is. We’ve been blessed abundantly with lots of kids and a great life. Our house is chaos, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Being a mom of a large family is fun and I have really great kids!
