What we did today
After beginning today with lots of hugs and kisses for my husband on his “name day”, the children and I were off to see Clare perform today at her first piano recital. She played a “Festiva Sonatina”, and another song called, “Little Dance”. She was WONDERFUL! (Yeah, Clare!) Following this, we went to the University of Chicago’s Physics Departmet Open House – A showcase of various science demonstrations including one with glowing *pickles* !!! (That’s not a typo!) The students demonstrated that the sodium nitrate in ordinary dill pickles reacts with electricity to produce a yellow glow…until the pickle “burns out”. We also saw experiments with UV beads, and surface tension (aka “Oobleck”). We came home and I made Nick’s favorite – pecan pie. We cuddled up and watched 30 Rock while the kids played not-so nicely downstairs.
