How to catch a squirrel and other silly stories

I now realize that I am just a city girl. I thought spending my childhood growing up in the country, made me an expert on all things “rural”. Boy, was I wrong. During the first week living here, I saw a spider the size of a silver dollar! Maybe it was just it’s body that was this size.

I was cataloging books and this pest just crawled right across my books! It wasn’t even threatened by me after I swatted at it! I smashed it and then was on the lookout the rest of the day for another one that looked just like it. I didn’t see one until the next day. That one was climbing the stairs. I had had enough of these creatures looking disgusting and making me feel like a fool, so I picked up the blunt edge of the ax and dropped it right on its head; this is, by the way, an effective way to kill it on the first try.

City to farm

Hello! Welcome to my new blog. My other blog, Heaven Help Me! chronicles our family’s life from October 2007 to the present. I started that blog as a “diary” of sorts – a means to write down our family’s memories to look back on later. I also wrote it to support other moms, and to let them know that motherhood, while not without its challenges, was something I find thoroughly rewarding, enjoyable, and incomparable to any other life. I wrote from the Chicago-area, just outside the city limits. <*sniffle, snifle*!> I am homesick for my former home, but must say it is not that difficult to love where we’ve moved to. We are in the midst of a very exciting project – building up the kingdom of God by living on a farm and beginning a Center of New Evangelization.
